A Guide to Find a Job
While it is difficult to search for a good job, ultimately it all depends on your approach.
Applying for a job is selling yourself to a potential employer. You should be able to answer why they should pick you over other applicants. Think about how you can stand out from the crowd.
Make sure you create a great CV and cover letter. When you are making your CV and cover letter, make sure that it is something that will make the potential get to know you better and be impressed by it. If it fails, don’t let it bring you down too much. Accept the rejection and look for some other place to apply.
You can try these things if you are searching for a job.
Joining Linkedin can benefit you much. Employers consider those who are part of LinkedIn. If you are interested in certain industries, join their discussion groups and start building your social network so that you are updated on job offers. If you follow companies that you like and comment on their posts, then this is one way to get noticed. Make sure that you make professional comments on these posts.
When their trusted employees recommend someone for a job, most companies hire these people. Perhaps you have a family member or a friend who works in a company that you want to work in; you can ask this friend or family if there are job openings in their company. Your friend or family member can inform you about vacancies in their company and if they can recommend you, then you have gotten an advantage over your competitors.
Look for jobs outside of job listing. Look for companies to work for and not vacancies. Your interest in the company will show in what you say when you apply for a job there. But you don’t completely reject job listings. If you see openings in a company that you like but the roles are not suitable for you, then send them a CV and cover letter anyway. You will never know when that company will be needing people with your skills. So show them what you have got with your CV and cover letter.
Research on jobs that are unfamiliar but may be the something that you would be interested to try out. This less traditional career path will have less competition but it will give you more opportunities to expand your horizons.
Potential employers will get an idea of what kind of worker you are by how you handle the application process. Don’t apply until you have researched about the company. You can benefit from understanding the company and what they do.
